The European Commission recently reached consensus on approving the proposal concerning tests of chemical substances for REACH proposed by European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) on a conference held in Helsinki in the beginning of December, 2009. It is for the first time that the Commission deliberated a proposal of such type. Members of the Commission held unanimously that the registrants should test the stickiness, aquatic toxicity (long-term toxicity to large water fleas), repeat dose toxicity, and reproductive toxicity of their chemical substances to make registration.
